YORGOO Press Upgrade to WordPress 2.8.1

This night WordPress 2.8.1 has been released. We have immediately tested the final version on our scripts; here are our recommendations:

What’s New on WordPress 2.8.1

According to WordPress here are the changes:

* Certain themes were calling get_categories() in such a way that it would fail in 2.8. 2.8.1 works around this so these themes won’t have to change.
* Dashboard memory usage is reduced.  Some people were running out of memory when loading the dashboard, resulting in an incomplete page.
* The automatic upgrade no longer accidentally deletes files when cleaning up from a failed upgrade.
* A problem where the rich text editor wasn’t being loaded due to compression issues has been worked around.
* Extra security has been put in place to better protect you from plugins that do not do explicit permission checks.
* Translation of role names fixed.
* wp_page_menu() defaults to sorting by the user specified menu order rather than the page title.
* Upload error messages are now correctly reported.
* Autosave error experienced by some IE users is fixed.
* Styling glitch in the plugin editor fixed.
* SSH2 filesystem requirements updated.
* Switched back to curl as the default transport.
* Updated the translation library to avoid a problem with mbstring.func_overload.
* Stricter inline style sanitization.
* Stricter menu security.
* Disabled code highlighting due to browser incompatibilities.
* RTL layout fixes.

WordPress 2.8.1 for YORGOO Press

Upgrade your YORGOO Press to WP 2.8.

If you are using a site from YORGOO Press Network: Upgrade to WP 2.8.1 – we will thereafter add the Semiomantics files.

YORGOO Press Customers: we will do the necessary upgrades for you.

The fact that WP switched back to curl as the default transport system will please all Blaster users!

WordPress 2.8.1 for YORGOO Booster

We have been waiting for this upgrade to finally release YORGOO Booster. A new YORGOO Booster version will be made available in the Customer Area within the next few days. If you are impatient, you can just upgrade your WordPress, it will work anyway, however some of the SEO benefits will be lost. A patch will be made available as well in the Customer Area.

WordPress 2.8.1 for YORGOO NewsCast

A new version will be made available later today and sent to the concerned owners with an instruction.

WordPress 2.8.1 for YORGOO Blaster

YORGOO Blaster works fine on WordPress 2.8.1; you can just upgrade the WordPress back-bone.

We will load a new Blaster Version including the upgrade within the next few days and make it available in the Customer Area.

WordPress 2.8.1 for Semiomantics XO, XY, EC, Y and Art

Keep the site as is if you have an original free Semiomantics Script from one of our Seminars.

By upgrading to WordPress 2.8.1 you will lose many of the SEO benefits of Semiomantics, however the site will still work fine and do better than a ‘normal’ site.

Customers: please contact us and we will upgrade your semiomantics scripts for free.

News Cast by YORGOO – The Dream Web Site

A New Semiomantics Framework called YORGOO News Cast is to be released later this week. News Cast is the flagship of the Semiomantics News Paper and Magazine type of publication frameworks, including the Tabloid, the YORGOO Press and now the YORGOO News cast theme.

What is new on News Cast?

YORGOO News Cast has a “foldable” or scalable News Paper layout. The Front Page is built in modules which can be switched on or off with a mouse click to fit the layout to the user’s needs.

Featured Video and Image categories are brought to the top of the page, as well as the latest news headlines. This gives a quick, informative and yet complete overview about the latest and most important happenings on the site.

Default images and automated thumbnails are associated with each post in the different category fields of the layout.

Page menus above and Category menus below the header make the site accessible and easy to surf.

Compared to YORGOO Press, single pages and single posts are easier to read due to improved styling.

Built in Hooks for Flickr allow external management of image streams.

Feeds per Category are automatically made available to visitors making it easy to extract targeted feeds from the site.

Advertising on the site is similar to YORGOO Press: reserved spaces in the layout where html code is added as well as widgets which can be added to or replace content of content fields in the layout.

Language and Translation

Default language is English. A language file allows to translate the theme quickly into any language.

The Look of YORGOO News Cast

Multiple style sheets are built in and can be selected from the dashboard. Customization is easily possible by editing the CSS files.

YORGOO News Cast a new Semiomantics Product

YORGOO NewsCast will be added to the Semiomantics Product Catalog. Pricing will be similar to YORGOO Press. Site install and support is included in the price.

Licenses will be available for single site, multiple sites and developers.

A total of maximum 20 News Cast Sites will be built.
