Wedding Video Design
Wedding Video Design As part of the Wedding Website I am currently preparing – and while waiting for my new system to have more punch to edit and render video material – I have just finished a short movie based on Wedding Photography and custom Wedding Video Design. Here is my Logo Design based on the song “One Love” by Bob Marley – a request by the newly weds for this part of their wedding story on their (future) website. Wedding Video Design Since this Wedding Lunch took place in another part of South Africa, the challenge for me was to create something out of what I got: in this case a CD of professional photos by Andrew Elliott Photography, in different shapes and sizes, using different filters, and no corrections etc. While overwhelming in the beginning to say the least… it’s in looking through the material again and again to get a feeling for the photography, the style, the flow, finding those little gems and excerpts and – finally – discover the message one wants to focus on and translate in the video. Portraits of Africa 2012 on Google Time again to monitor and check the performance of our new WP based Semiomantics XO 2012 Script on search engines. Here’s a screenshot of yesterday’s post “Portraits of Africa 2012″ on Google – have a look! Positions 1, 2, 3 and 6 ahead of 10,800,000 search returns – YEBO GOGO! Portraits of Africa 2012 on Google When looking up “Portraits of Africa 2012″ on Google, I also checked how the images in my article were ranked – here’s the detail of the screenshot showing the Image of a “Young African Girl” on position one, followed by the Image of a “Young African Boy” on position 4… and a small ad I created ages ago peeking at us on position 2. Monkey Valley Resort on Mobile I just got some screenshots directly from the iPhone in Europe to demonstrate how the new Monkey Valley Resort Website actually looks on the Mobile web – and I’m absolutely thrilled! The quality and resolution are just outstanding and I left the image big so you can appreciate it here even though the picture may take a moment to load. This is soooo sexy! Above, you see the Frontpage of the Monkey Valley Resort Website, which features a large elegant slider displaying the various chapters and attractions of the hotel resort 30 kms out of Cape Town, South Africa. What is remarkable here is how beautifully the slider displays – all based on new technology as, sadly, Flash does not display on mobile phones and this forced us to adapt in our Semiomantics Website Development, learning new languages like CSS3 and HTML5. Green Energy and TeleComs in Africa With the new year having started, and following on my article earlier HERE, one of my focus in 2012 also in terms of Web Design will be on “Green Energy”, picking up on a chapter I’ve always been actively involved in, also in my film work in Europe. I’ve spent some time over the holiday season to finally catch up on the African situation as a whole and South Africa in particular. After a number of discussions following COP 17 in Durban, I dug through heaps of materials collected at the AfricaCom Communications Congress in Cape Town (November 2011) to find out more about the correlation of Green Energy and TeleComs in Africa. While “going green” has sort of become a marketing cliche that doesn’t rip people from their chairs anymore, the fact is that climate change and greenhouse gases affect and concern each and everyone of us – even down here in the relatively green boonies – and we better become aware of their potentially devastating impact on our environment, us as people and especially future generations. Happy Christmas 2011 As every year around this time, we had some lovely rains for Nature to breath and rejoice – followed by beautiful sunshine and an almost tropical heat inviting everybody to relax on the beach! Many friends have arrived from overseas to spend a Happy Christmas 2011 on the sunny side of the globe, i.e. in South Africa. Happy Christmas 2011 It’s not easy to write “Happy Christmas 2011″ when being aware of so much desaster in the world right now. I am thinking especially of our friends in Mindanao – but not only there… In those situations it takes strength and courage to believe in ourselves as part of the universal “All that Is” – and with it in the promise the light at the end of the tunnel brings. Fire in Noordhoek Wetlands
Fire in Noordhoek Wetlands It was a beautifully sunny and quite windy day yesterday… a Saturday when most families went out or came to Noordhoek so their kids could meet Father Christmas. A day of celebration and joy. However, when I heard that noise in the air… and more and more of it and longer and longer… a noise I remember so well from the historic fires in 2000 when the whole Cape Peninsular burnt and we had to leave our home… I knew there was trouble. And though the wind was not blowing in our direction, so I couldn’t smell it yet… there it was: a huge fire in Noordhoek Wetlands! The photo below was taken directly from my terrace. A couple of helicopters carrying water were doing their courageous manoeuvers trying to get it out. At times 4 of them, especially as the wind was blowing harder and straight towards ‘The Lakes’ residential area. It was quite spectacular to see even small airplanes joining the crowd in the air to check what was going on below… and yes, a lot of terror and stress for many animals who live in this very rare region. Here’s a brief impression of today’s Sunday Lunch at Monkey Valley Resort: a little boy has scribbled his music wishlist in form of notes in his book and invites Signature bandleader Roy to get some steam up! Cape Cobra in my Studio
Cape Cobra in my Studio Believe it or not, this morning I was visited by a Cape Cobra in my Studio! I was working on my computer when I heard a strange noise. I knew I was alone, so what could that be? It sort of sounded like a tortoise… but in my studio? Hmmm… I didn’t see anything and turned back to the screen, when – from the corner of my eye – I saw a large snake moving towards my feet… as it’s summer I was wearing simple sandals. I still am now at almost midnight. I pulled my feet back – and this brisk movement made her turn extremely fast and then I heard it again, that strange noise…. and there she was, curling up in a wastepaper box where I had just dumped the packaging of my new headset. She was looking straight at me… as you see on the not too optimal photos… but given the fact that these snakes are extremely fast when they strike or spit and their venom is fatal if not treated in time – I was on the guard and perhaps a bit shaking LOL. New Facebook Page
New Facebook Page Following up on yesterday’s post HERE, and based on the fact that WordPress now allows for superb – yet quite complex and time-consuming - integration possibilities with Facebook, all participants of this past weekend’s Ycademy Seminar November 2011 developed a new Facebook Page – also called “Fanpage”. New Facebook Page It’s a personal choice as to whether the access to one’s new Facebook Page goes via a so-called ‘reveal page’ – as explained yesterday – or visitors don’t have to go the extra ‘like’ route and can have a quick look without that at what the owner of the Facebook Fanpage has to offer. While I setup the “like-us” page for the time being as part of the exercise – and I quite like it as I love my owl 
– I would probably prefer to offer the straight route. For the time being, I integrated an elegant SlideDeck with a number of slides inviting the visitor to click on what interests them – be it to connect and meet me on a more persoanl level – which would obviously be on my Author Blog -, or if they share my passion for photography to go [...] Continue reading
